in april of 1996, a group of evangelicals met together to consider the growing trends of “erosion” of the christian faith. after days of meetings, talks, and presentations, the “cambridge declaration” was signed by those in attendance.

in the 12 years since the document was signed, the assessment, fears, and predictions of those in attendance have come to fruition, and this is a very unfortunate thing. we would do well to read their words and warnings, and seek to apply ourselves to the standards of scriptural integrity called for in this document.

over the next few days i will post excerpts from the “cambridge declaration” in hopes of pointing out the reality that inaction in the addressed areas only contributes to the “erosion” of integrity in the evangelical world.
